From its beginning in 1907 as the Daughters of Israel shelter, Parker has evolved into one of the nations leading health care and rehabilitation centers for older adults. A 527-bed institution, Parker offers unique inpatient medical, sub-acute, nursing and rehabilitation programs complemented by an array of highly regarded community services.
The Institutes medical, nursing and therapy staffs are also specialists in treating complex medical and post-surgical conditions. Parker is renowned for its sophisticated rehabilitation programs for those recovering from surgical procedures as well as fractures, strokes, amputations, injuries and illness. Under the supervision of physiatrists, therapists and nurses administer individualized treatment plans designed to maximize function and help patients regain independence.
Parkers celebrated expertise in treating older adults is now being extended into communities through Outpatient Rehabilitation Centers, an Adult Day Health Care Center, Personal Physician Services, Dental Services, home care, an Alzheimers disease respite center and hospice programs.
The first facility of its kind to offer a Fellowship in Geriatric Medicine, Parker is also among the national leaders in geriatric medical education and research.
Parker is now expanding and renovating facilities to provide enhanced inpatient and outpatient services, more employment opportunities for health care professionals and increased research capabilities.
