The Chinese Moon Festival, celebrated on the 15th of the 8th lunar month, is deeply embedded in Chinese culture. Just like Christmas and Thanksgiving in the West, the Moon Festival is one of the most important traditional events for the Chinese. That is why it is celebrated each year at Parker's Chinese Adult Day Health Care Program, a culturally sensitive program that provides a world of fun-filled daily activities as well as excellent medical care for the frail elderly and disabled, in a modern, family-like setting.
The Moon Festival is an occasion for family reunions. So, the participants of Parker's Chinese Adult Day Health Care Center enjoyed entertainment, dancing, and singing of moon poems, and ate traditional moon cakes, during its two-day celebration in 2013.
