Parker Institute’s Granat Alzheimer Center is designed to meet the needs of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease in a safe, stimulating environment, while providing much-needed respite and support for caregivers. The Center’s philosophy is based on maximizing the strengths and capabilities of each participant. Every client participates in an initial interview; a personalized plan is then created to meet the individual’s needs. The Center’s professional staff includes specially trained therapists.

At the Center, participants can pursue recreational activities—crafts, exercise, dancing, gardening, etc.—focused on preventing memory loss and maintaining daily living skills. Nutritious meals and bathing services are also available.

The Center is open seven days a week, as follows:

  • Monday-Friday: 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
  • Saturdays, Sundays and holidays: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Special hours can be arranged to accommodate your schedule.

Transportation is available to most areas of Queens and Nassau Counties.

Caregivers have access to:

  • legal and personal counseling services
  • support groups that deal with the impact of Alzheimer’s disease on family relationships
  • a resource center operated in conjunction with the L. I. Alzheimer’s Association
