Volunteer Standup Comedy Brings Joy to Parker Jewish Institute Residents

On Thursday, May 29, 2025, patients/residents at the Parker Jewish Institute were treated to the comedic talents of one of our dedicated volunteers, Debbie. This first-time standup comedian brought her best material to a very receptive audience. Debbie endearingly delivered wholesome jokes and punchlines with semi-predictable puns and play on words. Her audience laughed and smiled throughout her set.

Comedy has a powerful healing connection. It can relieve anxiety and reduce stress. Laughter releases endorphins and helps improve moods. At Parker, we firmly believe in the uplifting power of comedy. We are proud to see this reflected in our Therapeutic Recreation Activity Department and our expanding team of dedicated volunteers. Together, they continue to bring new activities and events that brighten the days of our patients and residents, raising their spirits through smiles, laughter and joy.
