The Parker Jewish Institute’s Indian Cultural Unit hosted an uplifting celebration of two major Hindu holidays, Maha Shivratri and Vasant Panchami, on Thursday, February 19, 2026. Maha Shivratri, a late-winter festival, emphasizes love, symbolized by the marriage of Lord Shiva to Parvati. Vasant Panchami, a vibrant early-spring harvest festival, honors the Hindu Goddess Saraswati. Both holidays are observed through music, dance and art. The celebration was warmly received by our patients, residents, staff and visiting family members. They especially enjoyed a lively performance by four talented young dancers from RS International NY, a Bollywood dance school.
